Landesgalerie
The gallery now housed in the former stables of the Esterházy Palace was inaugurated in 1972, when it was still located in the palace, with an exhibit by the artist Lehmden.
Until 1994 the gallery was found on the premises of the Esterházy Palace. In 1996 it moved to the former stables of the palace. The former stables, centrally located buildings in late-baroque style, form a visual and architectural unity with the palace.
The regional gallery of Burgenland shows mostly contemporary art but also works of classic modern artists. On display are Austrian as well as international artists, as well as exhibits pertaining to a certain theme. The gallery emphasises on being a venue for local artists. There are on average five exhibits a year, some are productions of the gallery, some are exhibits that have been taken over from other institutions.
