Wine museum Burgenland

The Wine Museum Burgenland presents the history of wine making of this region, the related traditions and trades.

 

 

 

 

 

The wine museum is now located in the historic cellars of the Esterházy Palace - a location full of traditions. The museum is the result of a merger between the collections of the Regional Museum and the Esterházy Vineyards. Many items on display are on loan from other wine museums and can only be seen on a temporary basis.
Objects  - some of them with a history that goes back 3000 years, some of them go back to the middle ages - form a harmonious unity and atmosphere that makes wine culture come to live.

Some Highlights:- the largest barrel of the region Burgenland
- the oldest carved barrel bottom
- the oldest remaining barrels
- the oldest tree press of the region Burgenland
- the oldest still used wine cellar

Apr - Oct:  Mon - Sun 10 am -  6 pm
Nov. - Mar: Mon - Fri 10 am - 5 pm
